Between the sea and the mountains…

Activities and discovery at the hotel and around Port-Vendres

Activities near the hotel

Port-Vendres offers a mutlitude of leisure activities: set sail on
a yacht for a sea trip, for a sea cruise to cap Béar and the Baie de Paulilles, discover the rocky coast in a sea kayak, go on a long hike or bike ride, and enjoy the many supervised beaches or little creeks (not supervised).

Port-Vendres is paradise for diving-enthusiasts and those who love underwater wildlife. Diving Centres welcomes you in the heart of the Golfe du Lion Natural marine reserve. Flipper dives, maiden dives or explorations in the Côte Vermeille natural marine reserve for beginners, diving to discover wrecks or night dives for the more experienced...

And golf fans can find what they need 20 minutes from our hotel, at the Saint-Cyprien golf-course with its two 18 and 9-hole courses.

Port-Vendres

Port-Vendres is a natural deep-water harbour and the busiest
on the coast. Don’t miss the fishing boats coming in and the unloading of the fish on the stalls of small enterprises selling fish on the quays. Visit its pretty Spanish-style church curiously built on the dock, take the little road to the south up to cap Béar, at the end of the harbour, where you can see the strange red and white metal « Feu de Môle » lighthouse which shows the entrance to the harbour. At the end of the road, the Béar lighthouse rises majestically from a rocky spur and you have a striking view of the coast to the pointe du Cap-Creus in Spain. If it takes your fancy, you can take the little coastal path signposted in yellow to the superb Anse des Paulilles, a little corner of paradise jealously guarded by the conservatoire du littoral and which has been part of the Réseau Grand Site de France since 2011 as « Grand Site de l'Anse de Paulilles ».

Paulilles

This is one of the most beautiful sites in the department. Located on the commune of Port-Vendres, snuggling between Cap Béar and Cap l’Abeille, l’Anse de Paulilles, now a listed site, is a vast creek in exceptional surroundings. Stop here and admire the breath-taking landscape, the Mediterranean and exotic vegetation, follow the guided tours and enjoy the three unspoiled beaches at the foot of the massif des Albères.

The Paulilles site almost became a marina but, luckily, the conservatoire du littoral decided otherwise by financing the rehabilitation of the former Nobel des Paulilles dynamite factory which had been closed since 1984. Today, visitors can dive into the history of the factory by visiting the site which is absolutely exceptional! And everything is free: access, visit, exhibitions.

Collioure

Collioure, a gem on this rocky coast, is famous for the number of painters who have been inspired by the charm of the town, its picturesque and authentic atmosphere, its roofs, its bell-tower, its small catalan harbour, its typical alley-ways…. Among them, Henri Matisse, who created fauvism here, and also Georges Braque, Raoul Dufy, Albert Marquet… and even Picasso and Salvador Dali. Discover its exceptional heritage, the Château royal, the church of Notre-Dame des Anges, the forts… and also the musée d’Art moderne (museum of Modern Art), all the events… Everything which makes Collioure a unique site.

BANYULS

Banyuls-sur-Mer is a town filled with charm with its bay, its old town, its harbour, beach and jetty. It is famous with hikers as the starting and finishing point of the GR10, and also its yacht-basins, fairs and festivals, or splendid walks in the back country… As you discover the town, stop off at the musée Aristide Maillol, (painter, sculptor and from the region). And don’t forget to admire along an underwater path and a signposted path, the Cerbère-Banyuls natural marine reserve, the only natural marine reserve in France, which covers 650 hectares of sea.

Perpignan

Perpignan, "El centre del mon" according to Dali, is just 20 minutes away by car and offers a wealth of history which is unequalled in the region, with its Palace of the Kings of Mayorca, the Castillet, the Couvent des Minimes…
A town which is extraordinarily rich for history-lovers… or for those who love shopping !

Cadaquès

In Spain, about fifty kilometers from our hotel, you will discover Cadaqués, a small picturesque town called" the village of Salvador Dali. "

Throughout the year, the museum offers exhibitions on the artist, his work, but also his unusual personality.

Stop at the Dali House-museum, located in the Portlligat creek, also in Cadaqués. You will get to know more about the artist and his lifestyle. Lastly, admire the bay of Cadaqués, the largest natural harbor in Catalonia.
